HANOVER TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT LAUNCH DIGITAL CRIME FIGHTING TOOL
New website offers direct access to crime and public safety-related information
Hanover Township, PA (February 9, 2023) – The Hanover Township Police Department and Police Chief David Lewis announced the launch of a new website that gives people who use social networks and mobile devices an easier, more effective way to help fight crime and stay informed.
The new Hanover Township Police Department website was a partnership with the Hanover Area School District to help provide emergency response information in the event of an emergency at any of our schools within the district as well as any emergencies within the community. The development of the website was also in partnership with CRIMEWATCH Technologies and is part of the CRIMEWATCH Network (crimewatch.net). This online tool gives the public direct access to crime and public safety-related information happening in their community.
This momentous occasion is the first of its kind in the state, and possibly the country, where a police department and a school district has partnered to better protect a community’s schools in this way.
“This new website is the perfect entry point for establishing better police and public partnerships. Technology gives us the opportunity to communicate with the public and the anonymity of the tech avoids the potential risks of sharing information with the police…several police departments throughout the region are having great success using this technology”, said Chief Lewis.
Local residents, businesses, visitors, parents and students are strongly encouraged to visit https://luzerne.crimewatchpa.com/hanovertwppd/user/register connect with police department social media sites, and/or download CRIMEWATCH Mobile from the Apple App Store or Android App Store.
