About Us

     The Hanover Township Police Department is a twenty-four hour, full time police department, and is comprised of 19 Officers, including the Chief of Police, Assistant Chief of Police, two Detectives, three Patrol Sergeants and 12 Patrolman.

     The Hanover Township Police Department is located in Luzerne County and covers approximately 24 square miles and encompasses approximately 12,000 residents on a daily basis with an additional transient population of over 4,000 citizens who either travel through or work in the township.

     The Department handles approximately 6,500 calls for service per year; and has specialized units such as Detectives, School Resource Officers, a K-9 Officer, and Motor Carrier Enforcement. Officers are also trained in DRE (Drug Recognition Expert), Crash Investigation, SFST (Standard Field Sobriety Test), among many others.
