Forty Fort Police are investigating two (2) scam incidents that involve what is alleged by the perpetrators of these scams to be "Hacked Bank Accounts". The victims were told that their Bank Accounts were "Hacked" and that they needed to take their money out from the bank and transfer it into a "Bitcoin Account". In both cases, the victims were told to go to a gas station in Forty Fort Borough to open the Bitcoin Account. In both of these cases, the victims were told not to discuss anything about this with the employees at the bank because they were under investigation. The victims did not have accounts in the same bank. These are elaborate scams that utilize multiple people and phone transfers to help make it seem legitimate. Forty Fort Police are advising anyone who is asked to remove money from their bank account because it was hacked or is asked to open a Bitcoin account, or are requested to purchase gift cards to get their grandson out of jail, or anything else involving their money, to first contact their local police department before any action is taken.
