⚠️ SCAM ALERT – HAZLETON CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT ⚠️

The Hazleton City Police Department has been made aware of a scam currently circulating in our community.

In this scam, individuals receive text messages falsely accusing them of committing various crimes. The messages then demand payment to “cover” these alleged charges. The scammers are using the Hazleton City Police Department’s phone number to make their messages appear legitimate.

Please remember: Our officers will never contact you to request payment of any kind.

If you are unsure whether you are speaking with a real officer:

• Ask for the officer’s name and badge number.

• Call 911 and ask to be connected with that officer.

• If that officer does not exist within our department, please report the scam to the responding officer.

If you believe you have been contacted by a scammer, do not send money or personal information. Report the interaction to the Hazleton City Police Department immediately.
