SCAM ALERT

An elderly woman from Snowden Street reported that (2) two white males knocked on her door at approximately3:00 PM today (12/5/2018) and told her they were with the water company and her neighbors basement flooded so they needed to check her home.  The woman stated that one of the subjects showed her a badge that he was wearing around his neck on a chain.  They entered her home and asked her to run the water in her kitchen sink and then requested that she take one of them to the basement to shut off the water main.  She refused and the subjects left in an unknown direction and method of travel.  The only description provided was:

2 - White Males
Dark Colored Hats
Dark Colored Coats
Work Pants
1 - approximately 5'-10" and the other was a few inches shorter.

Forty Fort Police caution residents not to allow anyone into their homes before first calling 911 to have us verify their identification.  Scams like this occur often but during the holiday season they occur even more frequently.  Anyone observing any suspicious persons or activity should call 911 to have our officers respond to the area to investigate.  Please do not call our non-emergency line and leave a message.  By the time we hear the message it will be too late to identify the persons involved.
